Sims Fan For Life

One of my favorite pastimes, and something that has been consistent in my life since I was maybe 10 years old, is playing the Sims! It all started back with Sims 1, when my sister used to play it, and then I got really into it and carried on with Sims 2, 3, and now 4.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Sims franchise is just a series of life simulation games. You get to make people, or Sims, and make them into families or whatever you want them to be, and you can put them in a house or build them one, and decorate it however you wish. You get jobs, build skills, have babies, the whole shebang.

And it is so fun. And sooo addictive.

I go through phases of playing it a lot or not playing it at all, but right now I’m in the phase of playing a lot. Whenever I get a free moment, I love to just open up my game and check on my little families.

Sims not only gives me a chance to play around with life, but it allows a lot of creative expression too! Building houses and being able to decorate them got me really interested in architecture and interior design. I actually thought about majoring in interior design at one point.

Then of course, it’s not very surprising that writing is a big part of a life simulation game. People in the sims community love to attach stories to their families, and it’s so fun to kinda create this persona for your sim. It’s like grown up barbies.

It’s a little bit silly, and definitely a bit nerdy, but I love it! It’s a fun way to pass the time, and a fun way to live out my dream life, in a sense. Whenever I’m stressed out, it’s awesome to be able to get away from it all and just play.

What do you like to do in your free time? What’s one of your dorky guilty pleasures? Let me know in the comments!

I have been playing since I was about nine or ten (that’s the earliest I can remember). I started with 1 then somehow skipped everything to do with Sims 2 and skipped straight to Sims 3…and now Sims 4. I find that a lot of the players have said the same thing! They either play it a lot or they can go through phases of not touching it at all! I am definitely in the ‘play it every day’ phase. No shame. I 100% agree that it is good to just step out of ‘real life’ for a bit.

I always end up with families that are eight people, so I tend to get a wee bit overwhelmed. Haha. Whoops. God damn those unexpected triplets 😉 I LOVE the gallery in Sims 4! I have downloaded so many houses/people in my towns. It is insane! I have been planning on writing a review of Sims 4 for such a long time, but I’ve just never got around to it! Ha. Maybe one day soon, but I know that definitely aren’t alone in your love for The Sims 😉

    1. ️haha really?! That’s awesome! I feel like sims is one of those games a lot of people actually play but don’t really talk about since it’s not a multiplayer or whatever, so I randomly find fellow sims players all the time, and it’s a fun little surprise hehe. Im currently in a not playing it at all phase but the new expansion is set to come out in December so… I might get back into it then hehe. Especially being off school for a month with winter break! I recently had a family have triplets and I thought it was so cool, but then they were actually really hard to take care of, and yes, I got so overwhelmed haha. And the gallery is amazing! I could spend hours downloading people’s amazing creations, and it really inspires me to make my own!
